Ollie Impossible has being going a
while now and had so many different line ups but here is story of how things
panned out! Enjoy!
Version 1.0
Ollie Impossible was
started by three guys Steve Nicholls, Dan Wheeldon and Kiv way back in 1998. We
were all sitting in Pipers fish ‘n’ chip shop in Egham when we decided that all
our others bands had failed and we
should start a new band. This new band should be a fast melodic punk band! So
the three of us begin to right and practice songs! We then came to the
conclusion that two of us being guitarists and one being a drummer we were
lacking a bassist and a vocalist!
At this point we recruited
Steve’s brother James Nicholls and Kiv’s mate Simon whitrod. From there we
starting to rehearse and practice hard until we eventually got our first gig!
Just before this gig we recorded our first EP entitled ‘Smooth British Blend’.
This was at the Windsor arts centre in
funny enough Windsor. Thinking back now what a stupid move to have our first gig
at their battle of the band’s tournament! We came last by the way!!!!
Shortly after this amazingly well
performed gig (Wink Wink), Simon Departed from the band for still unclear reasons!
Version 1.1
After many considerations
over a new bassist we settled for Kerry Lambert after a lot of heat from Kiv as
Kerry and Kiv had Personal Issues. from there things started to kick of. We
booked are first proper gig at the Peel in Kingston and we recorded our self titled second EP Which was released through Alpha 9 Records
(which is still selling strong)
From here we started to gig hard in
various places locally!
Then one day James had the offer to go to
Australia for 6 months and not being a fool he jumped at the chance! This caused
us problems so we carried on with Steve doing main vocals instead of backing and
Kiv and Kerry doing the backing! This was working really well and Dan, Kerry and
Kiv wanted it to stay this way! But someone had to tell Steve! Steve did not
like this at all! And all went pear shaped! We decided to sack James, which in
turn meant the departure of Steve! Steve and James went on to form a band with a
guy called Pete Godfrey and someone else! They were called Second theory!
Version 2.0
After many discussions and
tryouts even the thought of calling it a day we found Chris Gain who stepped up
to be the other guitarist! And Simon Griffiths who became the new vocalist! From
here the band took a new direction of still being fast and melodic in places but
also slowing down the pace and becoming more Emo. It was going well but people
were not happy and there was a lot of heat going on between a few of the members
and a few people were not digging the new style of writing. Shortly after we
recorded our
third EP (Five guys with instruments) Kerry, Simon and Chris wanted to leave for
many reasons which I cannot mention! They formed the now awesome band called
Days Of Worth along with a guy called Alex and a guy called Andy!
This left just Kiv and Dan. Dan
eventually left to form another band with Steve and James as second Theory had
not worked out!
I believe this band
didn't work out either, Steve and James now play in Beyond Reasonable Doubt.
Ollie impossible was pretty much dead
with only one member left!
Version 3.0
A couple of months later Terry from Alpha
9 rang Kiv and said would you like to record the songs you wrote and release
them as Ollie Impossible. Kiv obviously said yes and began thinking which people
he could use to record these songs but then thought "hang on why don’t I
get the band going again with a few new people so he rang Pete Godfrey who was
previously playing in Second Theory! And Pete Hardy to play bass! We still required
a singer and another guitarist! This is where drummer Pete came to the rescue
and recommended Chris Morley who he had known along time! So we tried him out and he
worked! We still needed a singer! Then we came across Graham who we met in a pub
in slough and we was up for trying out. So we tried him out and he became our
vocalist. We were practicing for a while and then we booked our first gig as the
new line up at the now Defunked Sports Bar in Slough. We played a short set at a fund raiser just a couple of weeks before this gig at the same place for a now
departed Adam Scott. The day after this Graham quit which left us in quite a
predicament!
Version 3.1
So Kiv and Chris stepped up
to do a split main vocal style! Which not much time left we had to practice like
this and write some new lyrics and on the day we pulled it of! From there the
band has kept getting stronger and gigging all over the country! We have
recorded our debut album called
"The Master Plan to Destroy the Universe Version 3.1" Get It? Apart
from that finally everyone in the band gets on with each other and we all enjoy
our new style of a bit more heavy and aggressive, melodic and fast style now! We think
Version 3.1 is the one to stick!
Good luck to all the Ex-members and we
all still love You.
